In our over-scheduled lives, most of us have a hard time carving out another chunk of time for exercise. That’s why it makes sense to incorporate exercise into our everyday lives. But this is when I imagine Grandma laughing down from heaven at us! Because for all generations before us, men and women got their exercise from their daily activities. But now we hire people to do that stuff for us -­- to mow our lawns, rake our leaves, wash our cars, clean our houses -­ -so we have time to go to the health club and work out!

Summer is a perfect time to incorporate exercise into our lives! Consider these great calorie burners:

Playing badminton for an hour, 300 calories
Washing your car for an hour, 300 calories
Chasing a toddler on the beach for 20 minutes, 115 calories
Miniature golf for one hour, 200 calories
Searching for seashells on a beach for 30 minutes, 100 calories
Vacuuming 26 minutes, 100 calories
Washing windows 29 minutes, 100 calories
Scrubbing floors 19 minutes, 100 calories

Lessons from LeAnn
Plan regular play days! Grab someone you love, pack up a picnic, take a hike, wade a stream, burn some calories, get some exercise! Or turn on some rock ‘n roll music and clean your house to beat the band! Doing these things with favorite people helps us not only to balance our lives, but to truly live our priorities…more on that next issue!
